Seattle Design Festival

A team of local architects and I have designed an installation for the Seattle Design Festival in Pioneer Square. The construct will serve first as a portal to the festival and later in a parklet it will shift the perspectives between modes of transportation.

I designed the texture of the structure using Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, with the goal of zero waste.

Each Alaskan Yellow Cedar 1x12 was ripped on a specified curve down the center of the board using a CNC mill. The installation forms a rectilinear space and exterior with a wave pattern flowing through the interior walls, each board matched to its mate on the opposite wall.
